#ethnicraftathome: Gerard and Diana

In this month’s episode, we visit the humble home of one of Indonesia’s renowned architect, Gerard Tambunan of Wahana Architect. His various works are acclaimed by numerous institutions, including the Indonesian Institute of Architects. His personal home, named DeeRoemah, can be considered one of his best work.

At the entrance, we are greeted by a vast living-dining combo. Large windows built around the space and a borderless design give it a distinctive feel. The ingenious design and materials are personally created and chosen by both Diana and Gerard to emphasize natural light.

In the living room, we see how comfortable the space is by the way all the pieces seem to flow within the space. The coffee table is a combination of the teak Butcher stool and the teak Cube side table. The teak Cube side table also functions as storage for magazines and books. Combined with the ET201 sofa in Stone and the teak Lodge TV cupboard, the living room is complete.

In the dining room, the teak Slice dining table is the hero, with four teak EX 1 chairs in Turkish Coffee serving as sidekicks. Behind the dining table, we can observe the personalized teak Light Frame chest of drawers.

Gerard and Diana chose the teak Horizon bed and the teak Light Frame nightstands to furnish their bedroom. A tip: combine our bed frames with the matching nightstands to achieve a more polished look. The light and airy design of both of these furniture are perfect for tight spaces, as they give an illusory vastness to the space.

DeeRoemah is a fitting example of the homeowner’s personality spilling into the home. The functionality, low-maintenance care, and brightness of the house are universal elements that make a perfect home.
